Industrial Built Honest Tire
I read reviews before giving this tire a chance. The concensus was that it was a good tire that started out very loud. I mounted and road force balanced a set of 35x12.5x18 tires on a 1978 K5 Blazer. Here's what I've learned: Yes. They start out loud. I was having buyers remorse for the first couple of hundred miles. Then the noise just went away for the most part. They now sound like a regular high quality AT. I was expecting more highway noise since it uses a symmetric tread pattern which typically drones. Is there any drone? Sure, but once you get past those first 1,000 miles, its just not intrusive. I also figured out that this E-rated tire behaves real nice at lower pressures. The tire construction is so rigid. I'm currently running them at 29psi cold. My truck weighs around 6,500#s. There's been no discernable decline in fuel economy and the tire feels especially planted on the road surface. Braking feels great. Bumps are just eatin' up. The heat gun shows no noticeable tread temperature increases with long duration highway travel at this pressure. Now offroad, it does all that you want. Early on, I went to Arkansas to do some heavy-footed, rock-grinding, hill climbs. Whatever compound Yokohama is using is crazy durable. No cuts and no chunks on the tire.
